Having your child in a parent cooperative means a greater commitment compared to your child attending a regular preschool. At the same time, you as a parent get a good insight into the daily activities and have great opportunities to influence your child’s preschool experience. You get a personal and safe preschool where it’s easy to feel at home.

To create the best possible environment for the children and staff, the parents at Kottarna regularly help out with certain tasks.

Each family performs two to three “support shifts” per semester. The support shift means you relieve the staff by being with the children's group during a Monday or Friday afternoon, and you are responsible for cleaning the premises at the end of the day (or, for shifts on Friday, over the weekend).

In addition to the support shift, the parents help with fixing things as needs arise.

For more long-term maintenance and improvement work, you participate in two common "fix-it days" per year. In addition to the premises and outdoor space being improved, fix-it days are an opportunity for parents to get to know each other. The fix-it days are very much appreciated by both staff and children.

Since the preschool is run as an association, someone from each family participates in the annual general meeting. A parent from each family is also expected to fulfil a role on the board for a period of two years per child.
